A new 6,500 house neighbourhood at Zubair in Sharjah will come to life, His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, announced on Sunday.

He also unveiled a package of services projects including a fishing harbour and a yacht marina off the Hira.

''The big fishing harbour project is a brainchild of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan,'' Sheikh Sultan said through the ‘Direct Line', a simultaneously broadcast on Sharjah Radio and TV. The show offers a platform for residents of Sharjah to voice their concerns that are then addressed by the Ruler of Sharjah on a priority basis.

''Work on the project will commence shortly,'' he added.

Sheikh Sultan noted that housing applications surpassed 12,000 which need lands and basic services and infrastructures.

''We are building a community and thanks to God, we have basic concepts about education, health, social security and employment. We are working through one system whose core objective is to enable human being live in dignity,'' Sheikh Sultan stressed.

''The most important thing is security... people are safe in their houses, their livelihood and their dignity and possessions.'' The Ruler urged citizens, who experienced neglect, to call the Direct Line programme or the Palace's direct telephone to voice their grievances.

He prayed The Almighty to protect the UAE, its people and officials including President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa, Their Highnesses Supreme Council Members and Rulers of Emirates, and Deputies Ruler, who are striving to bring happiness and welfare to their people.
