Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, met with Jan Koum, a co-founder and CEO of the smart-phone messaging app WhatsApp on Thursday at Emirates Towers.
They discussed the latest technological developments regionally and globally, and the role of new technology in development with all its scientific, economic knowledge and medical components.
They also discussed enhancing cooperation between the Dubai Technology and Media Free Zone Authority (DTMFZA) and WhatsApp, in the light of the pioneering role of the DTMFZA in order to spread information culture in the Gulf and Middle East.
Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Gargawi, Minister for Cabinet Affairs, attended the meeting along with other senior officials.
