Sheikh Mohammed attends Arab Thought conference

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, attended the opening sessions of Arab Thought Foundation (Fikr10) conference, which will run for three days in Dubai.

The event saw the attendance of Dubai Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Civil Aviation and Chairman of Emirates Group Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Culture and Arts Authority Sheikh Majid bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Director of Dubai Ruler's Office Lt. General Musabbah Rashid Al Fattan, ministers, senior officials and prominent intellectual and cultural figures from the UAE and the Arab World.

Following a rendition of the UAE National Anthem, Secretary-General of the Arab Thought Foundation Dr Sulaiman Abdul Mun'em highlighted the agenda of the Arab Thought Foundation (Fikr10) conference titled "Arab Spring, What's Next?," in which representatives from 17 Arab countries come together to discuss recent issues and hot topics in the Arab world.

Chairman of the Arab Thought Foundation Prince Khalid Al Faisal delivered a speech, in which he congratulated the leadership of the UAE and its people on the occasion of the 40th national Day. Al Faisal thanked His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum for gracing the event with his presence and patronage. He highlighted the true spirit of Arabia that dwells deep within Sheikh Mohammed and his vision that turned the Emirate of Dubai into a splendid international cosmopolitan city.

At the conclusion of the opening session, Sheikh Mohammed was presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of his farsighted vision and strategic planning that turned the wheels of development and lifted the United Arab Emirates to become an advanced entity that enjoys prestigious status both regionally and internationally.

Sheikh Mohammed thanked Prince Khalid and Arab Thought Foundation for this honouring and for their efforts to catalyse dialogue as means of sustaining development and creating a better future for the Arab people.

Highlighting the important role that intellectuals represent, Sheikh Mohammed applauded the efforts exerted by Governor of Makkah Province Prince Khalid Al Faisal and the foundation's noble aim to achieve development.


Mohammed bin Rashid visits WDC exhibition  
 
Sheikh Mohammed also visited the exhibition held on the sidelines of the World Diabetes Congress which was opened last night by Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, UAE Minister of Finance and President of the Dubai Health Authority.

Sheikh Mohammed was accompanied during his tour of the exhibition by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, and a number of senior officials.
