Sheikh Mohammed receives world leaders

The Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum received here today in the presence of the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Interior Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Pakistani President Ali Asif Zardari, Georgian Prime Minister Nikoloz Gilauri, Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikha Hasina Wajed, Her Royal Highness Crown Princess of Sweden Princess Victoria Ingrid Alice Desiree, who are taking part in the World Future Energy Summit (WFES).

Sheikh Mohammed discussed with the Pakistani President the bilateral relations between the UAE and Pakistan and ways to enhance them. They also tackled a number of peace and development issues in the region.

The Vice President also discussed with the Georgian PM ways to bolster the bilateral cooperation between the two sides, especially in the area of energy.

Sheikh Mohammed discussed with the Bangladesh PM a number of issues pertaining to friendship. They also discussed cooperation between the two countries and ways to boost them, especially in the area of energy.

He also exchanged views with the Swedish Crown Prince on a number of issues being discussed by the WFES and expected resolutions to be reached by the summit being held under patronage of General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.

The meetings were also attended by Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of the Cabinet Affairs, Mariam Al Roumi, Minister of Social Affairs, head of honour mission accompanying the Bangladeshi PM, ministers, high ranking officials and ambassadors.


Meets Portugese PM

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum received today at the Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi Jose Socrates Carvalho Pinto De Souza, Prime Minister of Portugal.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan who is leading his country's delegation to the World Future Energy Summit.

Sheikh Mohammed and De Souza discussed topics relating to expanding cooperation between the two countries, particularly in the economic and commercial fields, as well as energy and air transport.

Sheikh Mohammed and De Souza attended signing of two agreements for avoidance of dual taxation on income and air transport services. They were signed by UAE Minister of State for Financial Affairs Obaid Humaid Al Tayer and his Portuguese counterpart.

Present were a number of ministers, senior officials, the UAE Ambassador to Portugal and the Portuguese Ambassador.


To leave for Sharm El Sheikh

Sheikh Mohammed will leave for Egypt on Tuesday as he leads the country's delegation to the 2nd Arab economic, social and developmental summit, to be held in the Red Sea resort of Sharm El Sheikh.

Sheikh Mohammed will be accompanied by a high level delegation which will include Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Trade Sheikha Lubna bint Khalid Al Qasimi, Minister of Economy Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Dr Anwar Mohammed Gargash, Minister of State for Financial Affairs Obaid Humaid Al Tayer, Minister of State Reem Ibrahim Al Hashemy, and UAE Ambassador to Egypt and Permanent Representative to the Arab League Mohammed bin Nakhira Al Dhaheri.
