Sheikh Mohammed Centre for Cultural Understanding (SMCCU) has received from Dubai Media Incorporated (DMI) a number of English documentaries which will be shown to the centre's visitors from all over the world.

Ahmed Saeed Al Mansouri, director-general of DMI TV channels, said in a statement that DMI's keenness to bring out UAE's culture, in alignment with the UAE's strategic goals of community service, "stresses the importance of constant communication and cooperation among different government entities and organisations in Dubai, truly following the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, by supporting creativity and innovation in the UAE.”

Al Mansouri has also lauded the SMCCU's efforts in introducing the UAE's cultural dimension, as well as the UAE's customs and heritage, stressing that tourists want to explore the lifestyle and the phases of historical development of the people of the UAE.

According to the director-general of DMI TV channels, the organisation cooperates with different cultural establishments in the UAE. He urged them to provide documentaries and special programmes, especially those produced over 40 years ago that include rare footages and pictures.

He also called this cooperation with SMCCU a "first step" that will lead to many others in this field.

SMCCU's general manager Nasif Kayed thanked DMI for providing this valuable collection of works that document the UAE’s history and heritage.

SMCCU was founded in 1998 under the patronage of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid as a non-profit organisation with the aim of enhancing awareness and understanding among different cultures in Dubai under the banner of "Open Doors, Open Minds".
