UAE elected to Unesco Executive Council

Ambassador Abdullah Ali Musbeh Al Nuaimi, UAE Representative to the United Nations Education, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (Unesco), has highlighted the UAE's unprecedented overwhelming victory at Unesco's General Conference when it won the Executive Council Membership.

He added that the victory comes in the wake of strenuous efforts exerted by the UAE delegation and the Department of International Organisations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Al Nuaimi said that winning by the two thirds margin is a recognition to the UAE activities and contributions to Unesco. The UAE won 144 votes out of 185. Tunisia and Saudi Arabia were also elected.
