UAE orders urgent relief to Pakistan

Under the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, General Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces has instructed the Khalifa Foundation to dispatch urgent relief to flood-affected population in Pakistan.

The relief materials will delivered to the people affected by the floods which hit Pakistan, leaving hundreds dead and thousands without homes.

 

Mohamed bin Zayed receives Libyan delegation

General Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, today met with a Libyan delegation headed by Speaker of House of Representatives, Ageela Saleh, who is paying an official visit to the country.

He was accompanied by the Libyan Prime Minister, Abdullah Al-Thinni and a number of senior Libyan officials.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed existing bilateral relations and the importance of strengthening them in a way that serves the joint interests of the two countries and peoples. The meeting also tackled ways to boost coordination and cooperation between the UAE and Libya in a number of areas.

The Libyan delegation briefed Sheikh Mohamed on the latest political and security developments in Libya, and the efforts being exerted by the government to restore security and stability there. The Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi stressed the support of UAE for all efforts aimed at backing the Libyan people to achieve peace, stability and prosperity, and their hopes to avoid violence and the use of arms.

He wished for stability in Libya to be followed by reconstruction and development, expressing his optimism that the Libyan people are capable of exceeding this critical stage to restore security, stability and territorial unity.

Sheikh Mohamed stressed the importance of respecting the will and options of the Libyan people to determine their future and settle disputes, noting that Libya, "Is for all Libyans based on legitimacy of sovereign institutions, including, among others, the elected House of Representatives."

He reiterated that the UAE looks forward to a unified Libya that occupies its natural position in the Arab world and its regional sphere.

The two sides discussed the latest Arab, regional and international developments, and exchanged views on a number of issues of mutual interest.

For their part, the Libyan officials expressed their appreciation of the UAE's supportive stance towards the Libyan people, citing its continuous humanitarian and development assistance, so as Libya can overcome this critical stage.
