UAE Vice President hails Emirati horses' performance at Royal Ascot

Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, on Tuesday hailed the sensational achievements made by Emirati horses on the opening day of the Royal Ascot, which is running until 24th June.

Celebrating a treble for Dubai's Godolphin Stables, he emphsised that the UAE is keen on continuing to take to the podium and win the first places while also continuing commitment to creativity in competitions in various arenas at both the regional and international levels.

Those present at the opening of the event include H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Lt. General Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Deputy Chief of Dubai Police and Public Security, and Queen Elizabeth II of the UK and Head of the Commonwealth.

Dubai Godolphin's Barney Roy gained a first G1 success in the St James’s Palace Stakes, leaving Lancaster Bomber in the second place and the Saeed bin Suroor-trained Thunder Snow in the third in the mile contest for three-year-old colts.

Prince Charles, Prince of Wales, and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, presented H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid with the trophy.

Godolphin's Richard Fahey-trained Ribchester and Mutakayyf - owned by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and UAE Minister of Finance- finished first and second, respectively, in the one-mile Queen Anne Stakes.

H.H. Sheikha Al Jalila bint Mohammed bin Rashid, flanked by her mother HRH Princess Haya bint Al Hussein, was presented with the trophy.

Wesley Ward-trained Lady Aurelia landed the 1000-metre King's Stand Stakes, leaving Godolphin's Profitable in the second place.

Godolphin's Sound And Silence, trained by Charlie Appleby, won the Listed five-furlong Windsor Castle Stakes, beating stablemate Roussel into second place.

Trophy of the last race on day one was presented to Abdullah Al Mansouri, Executive Chief of Dubai Government's Office in London.
