Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum received Sheikh Saleh bin Abdulaziz bin Mohammed Al Al-Sheikh, Saudi Minister of Islamic Affairs, Call and Guidance, on Thursday.

While discussing a variety of Islamic issues, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid and Sheikh Saleh bin Abdulaziz discussed methods to promote the tolerant image of Islam among the young generations of Muslims. The role of preachers and scholars was also discussed in this respect.

The Saudi minister lauded the contribution of the Dubai International Holy Quran Award, DIHQA, in bringing together young Muslim memorisers of the Holy Book from across the world in an unparalleled competition and in honouring an Islamic personality who offered distinctive services and contributions to Islam and Muslims.

The award, which was launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed more than 20 years ago, seeks to promote moderate Islam among the youth and encourage them to memorise the Holy Quran and comprehend its interpretation in an attractive, friendly and scientific way.

The meeting was also attended by H.H. Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, and members of the DIHQA's Board.
