Holidaying couple left holding baby, $1m bill

A Canadian couple who went vacationing in Hawaii is left holding a baby and $1 million hospital bill.

Jennifer was six months pregnant when she made the trip and the couple say they got permission from their doctor to travel.

They also purchased a travel insurance, reported cbc.ca.

However, their baby was born nine weeks early through a C-section and the couple got slapped with a $1m hospital bill.

But, then the insurer claims that a bladder infection two months before her pregnancy made her ineligible for coverage.

Meanwhile, social media has suggested raising funds and legally confronting the insurer. But the family is against accepting public money. "People work hard for their money...I don't feel they should be giving us..." they were quoted as saying.
