A man who is accused of driving recklessly, damaging a police car and another vehicle, and running away from the accident site, told court he had done so because he was scared and asked for mercy.
The unnamed driver, admitting his mistake, begged the appeals court in Abu Dhabi to reduce a prison sentence against him to payment of fine and vowed not to repeat such offences.
“He asked for mercy and promised not to repeat such offences…the court adjourned the case to June 1,” Alittihad newspaper said.
