The recent deadly bombing of a mosque in Kuwait appears to have sparked a wave of hoaxes and one involved two children who said they were just joking.

Another hoax involved a Pakistani man who wanted to settle scores with a friend by claiming the friend is a terrorist on the run.

Police rushed to the mosque in Sabahiya neighborhood in Kuwait City after receiving a call from an 11-year-old boy saying he saw a man walking around the mosque at night.

“Policemen found a 14-year-old boy who told them that he and his friend who informed them were just joking. Both were taken to the station and rebuked. They were also made to promise not to repeat this again,” ‘Al Watan’ daily said.

Another hoax involved a Pakistani man who went into a nearby mosque and handed the preacher an envelope containing a photograph of another Pakistani.

“He wrote under the picture that this man is a terrorist who has just fled Kuwait.

“Police later arrested the two and found that the man who gave the envelope to the preacher wanted to settle scores with his friends after personal rifts.”
