Maid converts to Islam after defaming employer

A non-Muslim Filipina house converted to Islam after defaming her employer in newspapers in her home country, just after learning he dropped the case against her.

The maid was arrested upon her return to Saudi Arabia after her employer Turki Al Jaish reported her to the police, the Saudi daily ‘Alwatan’ said.

Jaish later went to the police station in the Central town of Onaizah and dropped all charges against the maid although she confessed to publicly defaming him stealing jewellery from his house, the paper said.

“After I dropped the case, I took her to my house. She decided to convert to Islam and I instructed her how to do it. She now fasts in Ramadan and has iftar with us,” he said.

The paper said the maid’s name was changed from Katrina to Jouri and quoted her as saying: “I decided to become a Muslim after my employer pardoned me and treated me very nicely despite the offences I made against him.”
