A Saudi man who wanted to renew the visa of his Indonesian housemaid was surprised when he was told he must first pay a fine for a traffic offence committed by the maid, although she had never driven a car.

His surprise turned into a shock when he was handed the fine showing the maid committed the offence in  the western town of Makkah although she had never to been to that city.

He said he refused to pay the fine on the grounds his maid does not know how to drive a car and has not been out of the area where he lives.

“They stopped procedures to renew my maid’s visa and I kept  shutting between the Ministry of Labour and the traffic police until they finally admitted there was a mistake,” he told Sabq newspaper in a report from the central town of Onaiza.
