Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Technology and Media Free Zone Authority, chaired the meeting of the Board of Directors of the Dubai Media Incorporated (DMI).
Sami Dhaen Al Qamzi, Deputy Chairman of DMI's Board of Directors was also in attendance.
The meeting reviewed DMI's progress concerning to developing performance and programmes of television channels during the past and upcoming Ramadan periods.
The Board discussed a number of topics related to the proposals of members aimed at achieving DMI's objectives in modernising media locally and externally, which reflects the achievements of the UAE in general and Dubai in particular in order to be on par with the economic, tourist and cultural changes.
During the meeting, Sheikh Maktoum emphasised the importance of harnessing national expertise and capabilities as one team, so as to activate the role of DMI in the media, social and humanitarian aspects as means of communication between the government institutions and society, in addition to transferring the cultural image of the country abroad with full transparency.
He also referred to the need of broadcasting diversified programmes in Ramadan, which cope with the habits, values and the spirit of traditions of the Arab and Muslim communities.
