Man gets life for kidnapping child

A criminal court in Ajman sentenced an Arab man for life in prison after he was convicted of kidnapping a nine-year-old girl to rape her while drunk.

The girl was walking back home with her friend when the unnamed man snatched her, bundled her in his white four-wheel car and sped to a deserted sandy area, where he hit her and stripped her clothes off.

Her friend rushed to the girl’s family and told them about the incident, prompting the family to inform the police after giving them descriptions of the car.

Police spotted the man in a deserted area as he tried to rape the girl. After a chase towards Emirates road, he got out of the car and fled, leaving the girl in.

“The man was later caught but he could not rape the girl…the court sentenced him to life imprisonment, 80 lashes for being drunk and fined him Dh20,000 for driving his car under the influence of alcohol,” Emirat Alyoum daily said.
