Man tortures son with hot skewers

A Saudi man used hot skewers to torture his eight-year-old son and broke the hand of his wife when she tried to protect her son, a newspaper reported on Sunday.

Okaz said police in the Western Saudi town of Medina were questioning the father on the reasons for torturing his son and beating up his wife.

"It was not the first time the father tortured his son...he had done it many times before," the paper said, quoting the boy's uncle.

He said his sister and her son fled to neighbors and called him after her husband assaulted them with hot skewers this week.
