Massive fire breaks out in Al Qusais

 A massive fire broke out around noon at the Dubai Municipality owned tyre recycling unit in Al Muhaisna in Al Qusais Industrial Area in Dubai.

The incident occurred just before noon. The unit is mostly used to store and shred old tyres. Fire fighters were immediately rushed to the spot and efforts are still on to put out the fire.

According to one of the employee working at the tyre storage yard said, the fire could have been caused due to short circuit.

“Old tyres are shredded and later exported to other markets for recycling. The intensity of the smoke is because of the rubber. It looks like no one has been injured. But we are not sure,” he said.

A Dubai Municipality official confirmed the incident and said efforts are on to put out the blaze.
