Mobile phone saves man from burglars

Egyptian antics thieves could have succeeded in stealing $1 million (Dh3.67 million) from a Saudi man hadn’t one of them pinched the victim’s mobile phone.

The gang members were paid $50,000 (Dh183,000) by the Saudi as first installment of the sum in return for Pharonic antics, which they promised to bring the next day after meeting the man at a restaurant in Eastern Egypt.

But after a greedy gang member stole the Saudi’s mobile phone, he became suspicious and informed the police, according to the Saudi daily Okaz.

“Egyptian police managed to hunt down the thieves by tracking them through the Saudi man’s mobile phone after they obtained information about the phone from the shop which sold it to the Saudi man,” the paper said.
