Mom gets instant justice against her prodigal son

A Saudi judge who was moved by an old woman’s plea against her bad adult son instantly handcuffed him in court and decided to throw him in jail indefinitely until his mother forgives him. But the judge ordered his release just after the crying mother immediately said she had pardoned him.

The unnamed Saudi woman, in her 60s, went to court in the western Red Sea port of Jeddah to complain that her son mistreats her and refuses to support his parents although she and her husband are very ill. When her son called her a liar, the judge got mad and shouted to the police man to handcuff him.

“The judge then decided to throw him in prison and not release him unless his mother says she has forgiven him,” Okaz newspaper said.

“At that moment, the mother was about to collapse.…she rushed to the judge and begged him not to jail or lash her son…the judge realized that after all, she is a mother…so he asked her to keep quiet for a while.”

When the judge asked her to tell him about her son, she said that he often mistreats her and his ill father and has threatened to throw them and his sister out of the house. She said she was suffering from heart disease while his father, in his 70s, had a stroke and could hardly move.

“The woman told the judge her son is disobedient and is not doing his minimum duty towards his parents and family…she said he is not giving them any money although they are in desperate need for it,” the paper said.

“The son, who was present in court, told the judge his mother is a liar and started to make excuses and give empty justifications….at the moment, the judge was infuriated and ordered the police man to immediately put the handcuffs in the son’s hands and take him to prison…the judge then told the son ‘I sentence you to stay in prison until your mother says she has forgiven you.”

The paper said that the mother, instead of applauding the verdict, burst into crying and rushed towards the judge.

“I beg your honour not to jail or flog my son…I forgive him…I beg you to let him out…the judge then relented,” the paper said.

“After hearing what she said about her son, the judge brought him back and told him that he would set him free this time but that he would not do so next time…the judge made the son pledge not to mistreat his parents again and ordered him to give them SR2,000 a month after seeing his monthly income.”
