A mother fought with a bull mastiff when it attacked her two children.
With her bare hands she fights off the snarling animal in a park reports 'dailymail.co.uk'.
Thirty-one-year-old Karen Greaves suffered severe injuries as she grabbed its jaws to save her kids. The dog had already ripped apart their King Charles spaniel puppy.
Dylan, five, and four-month-old Amelia, were enjoying a picnic in the park when the dog attacked them.
The dog knocked Amelia’s buggy to the ground and it seemed to get in a wild streak. Karen leap at the dog and put her hand in its mouth. "It basically then ate my hands and they looked like they had been through a shredder. I was covered in blood, it was pandemonium," said Karen.
Greaves had to undergo surgery on her hands.
The bull mastiff was being walked by its female owner. The incident was witnessed by around 20 people and many of the horrified onlookers stepped in to help.
A group of teenage girls also grabbed Amelia and Dylan and hurried them to safety until police arrived.
Greaves spent three days in hospital and was discharged with her hands and arms swathed in bandages.
The dog’s owner later had it killed and offered to pay compensation to the family for their ordeal.
Greaves now want all dogs banned from public parks to ensure children are protected.
