Naif diamond murder: Salesman dead in souq

A Dubai Police source has confirmed that an Indian sales executive representing a leading diamond merchant in Dubai has been found murdered in the gold souq in the Naif area.

The source confirmed the involvement of two suspects in the murder and said that the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of Dubai Police have uncovered key information about the identity of the perpetrators.

The source also clarified that the murder was carried out by throttling the victim and not by slashing his neck - as rumours among workers and employees of the gold souq have suggested.

He expects the CID to make arrests within a few hours.

The executive is believed to have been engaged in a business deal with two foreign clients and was last seen alive on Wednesday night at 8 pm in the souq.

According to sources at the souq, diamonds worth Dh 5 million are missing, though there has been no official confirmation of this.

The body was found in the toilet.

The crime came to light after the pregnant wife of the executive, desperately trying to locate her husband, raised the alarm.

“His wife is shattered by the news. She is two months pregnant,” said sources.
