New Google Doodle superb: Now back to work UAE

Published

Even as many in the UAE woke up with no knowledge of who Winsor Zenic McCay was, his name and his Google Doodle tribute was the talk of the town this morning.

Paying tribute to this American cartoonist and animator’s ‘Little Nemo in Slumberland’, the interactive doodle unravels like a comic strip where Nemo is seen wandering through the magical world of ‘Google-land’, much to the chagrin of several Dubai-based bosses.

Speaking to Emirates 24|7, Rajesh K said: “I won’t deny the doodle is by far one of the best ever created but we also have deadlines that need to be met. We work in the banking industry, and the markets in the east open earlier. There is no time to spare.”

Mark S. said on Twitter: “People, it’s great. Now get back to work!”

In fact, the doodle was trending in the UAE on Twitter in the early hours, with tributes pouring in from fans.

RoMan tweeted: “Alright, Google. You just won the internet with your Winsor McCay’s Little Nemo interactive Google Foodle. Consider me a fan for life.”

Rutavi Mehta wrote: “If you want seen today’s Google Doodle then please see it. You are going to miss something big.”

Dan Kois said: “The Little Nemo Google Doodle is outlandishly wonderful.”

Mark Franklin said: “Well, that was the most extravagant Google Doodle of all time.”

The interactive comic strip provides a small tab at the lower right area for visitors to click to see the story unravel.

Clicking on the tab at the end of the story will take the visitor to a Search Results page for Winsor Zenic McCay.

McCay, born September 26, 1869 and died July 26, 1934, was best known for the comic strip “Little Nemo” that started in 1905, along with the animated cartoon “Gertie the Dinosaur” in 1914.
