The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has opened three new lanes as part of Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road Widening Project on Friday, making a total of six lanes stretching from Al Yalayis Road Junction to Jebel Ali-Lehbab Roundabout in the direction of Abu Dhabi only.

“Completing this sector of the project would significantly contribute to the smooth traffic flow, especially for vehicles coming from the existing Al Houdh Roundabout towards Abu Dhabi. This is the first phase of Al Yalayis Interchange project, which comprises four phases to be completed by end November 2016 according to the project timetable,” said Nabeel Mohammed Salih, Director of Roads, RTA’s Traffic and Roads Agency.

He continued: “Last February, RTA opened three lanes of Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road Widening Project, making a total of six lanes in each direction, stretching over seven kilometers from Al Maktoum International Airport R/A to Jebel Ali-Lehbab Roundabout.

"It contributed to a smooth flow of vehicles from Al Yalayes Road heading east towards Dubai Investment Park, and west towards Sheikh Zayed Road and Jebel Ali Free Zone. It also eased the movement of north and south-bound vehicles on Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road to and from Abu Dhabi.”
