The sub-committees of the Executive Council on Tuesday held a joint workshop here to review the project to develop a master plan for Mussafah area in Abu Dhabi, in the presence of Sheikh Dhiyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Sheikh Zayed bin Hamad bin Hamdan Al Nahyan.

The project is being developed following a resolution by the Infrastructure Committee of the Executive Council to set up a working team from the concerned entities to propose a future master plan for Mussafah area and to submit the recommended plan to the Committee.

Sheikh Dhiyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed said the workshop was aimed at tackling various aspects, namely safety, infrastructure and environment, as well as social and economic impact of the new plan.

He emphasised the importance of the project, given the economic value of Mussafah as a vital industrial hub serving the residents of Abu Dhabi.

Falah Al Ahbabi, Director-General of the Abu Dhabi Urban Planning Council (UPC), said in a speech delivered on behalf of Saeed Al Ghafli, Chairman of the Executive Office, that the government of Abu Dhabi was keen on continuous development of the emirate's different areas.

He highlighted the huge opportunities offered by Mussafah to the investors and business owners.

The workshop discussed a number of issues related to Mussafah, including accommodation for workers, traffic congestion, pollution and regulations for inspection.
