Newborn rescued from public toilet with plastic bags on head [video]

A newborn baby was dumped in the cesspit of a public toilet with a plastic bag wrapped around its head in a bid to stop people hearing its desperate cries.

Despite the detailed lengths taken to harm the baby it managed to survive the ordeal, which took place in the city of Khujand in north west Tajikistan.

There is no information on the condition of the baby, whether it is a boy or a girl, or if the mother has been identified.
