NMC highlights importance of reading

The National Media Council, last night, organised a Ramadan gathering (majlis) to highlight the importance of reading.

The gathering hosted a number of senior officials from Dubai government departments.

At the gathering, Obaid Al Leem, director of the Media Content Department at the NMC, spoke about the council's roles and responsibilities as well as its efforts to highlight national unity as a source of stability for citizens, and  projecting a positive image of the UAE.

He said the NMC has been given additional responsibilities including the coordination of the UAE's media policy and promoting the unity of the country's federation, among others.

Al Leem noted that President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan declared 2016 the Year of Reading in the UAE.
