Testing will be carried out on Dubai Tram this week, affecting the JBR-Dubai Marina loop, Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has said.

The testing will be carried out from Monday to Thursday.

During this time, the short loop serving stations Jumeirah Beach Residence  (JBR) 1 and 2, Jumeirah Lakes Towers (JLT), and Dubai Marina Mall will not be available.

These stations and other stations will continue to be served by Dubai Tram on the larger loop, which runs from JBR to Al Sufouh.

Because of these changes, the headway between trams will be six-10 minutes during the day, said the RTA.

The short loop is an additional route which enables commuters to travel directly from Dubai Marina Mall to JLT or JBR (stations 1-4).

Due to the single track structure at these locations, passengers can only travel in one direction; from JBR to the following stations.

With the introduction of the short loop, 2 trams are serving the four stations on this route only, while a third tram rides the larger loop.

Commuters traveling from Dubai Marina Mall to JLT or JBR have two ways to do so this week.

They can disembark at Dubai Marina Metro Station (station 5) and take the Tram in the opposite direction.

Alternatively, they can sit out the entire route from JLT to Al Sufouh and back, a trip consuming 40 minutes.
