Novel attempt to smuggle in 'grass' foiled

A Nigerian woman attempted to smuggle more than 264gms of marijuana in wooden cubes hidden in medicine plastic containers, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

On July 1, at 5am, JRJ, 30, visitor has arrived in Dubai International airport and at the last check point of Dubai Customs, Khadeeja Ahmad, inspector suspected the passenger.

She told the inspector that this was her first visit to Dubai as a tourist. Searching her luggage, the inspector found a yellow bag which contained 4 plastic containers. Opening one of them she found wooden cubes stuffed forcibly in them and addition to marijuana wrapped with nylon. The Inspector has to cut the plastic containers to retrieve the cubes which contained herbs that looked like marijuana.

First JRJ claimed that it is medical herb and about the plastic bag she denied knowing anything about the wrapped packs inside the plastic containers. She claimed that someone has given it to her while she was at Lagos airport to hand it over to someone in the UAE.
