If you are a resident of Abu Dhabi, you can actually submit your complaints or report public safety incidents directly to the government.

The government has an mobile application called, CityGuard, that allows residents to take a photo, video or audio clip of the reported incident and submit it through the app, which uses an embedded interactive map to locate the exact geographic position of the incident.

“Be part of your community! Download CityGuard app and report public safety-related incidents by taking photo, video or audio recording,” abudhabi.ae, the e-government gateway, remind residents in an sms message on Wednesday.

According to the website, residents can complain for over 25 different incident types predefined in CityGuard from “sewerage” to “sand obstruction” to “homeless nuisance”. But if none of the predefined types apply, one can report the case using “others” category.

With its slogan “Your City, Your Community, Your App”, CityGuard aims to increase civic participation and collaboration between the public and the government in improving city image and the living environment in the emirate.

Once the case is submitted, the application will automatically register the case and create a case number with the Abu Dhabi Government Contact Centre, which will then assign the case to the appropriate government entity for resolution.

“From open to closure, the case can be monitored by the customer within the CityGuard application,” according to the Abudhabi.ae.

Other options to monitor the case is by logging on to www.abudhabi.ae or by contacting the Abu Dhabi Government Contact Centre on 800 555.

The application is currently available for Blackberry, Android and iOS platforms. It is available in English and Arabic.

According to the Abudhabi.ae, to report a case, one must provide his/her first name, last name and email address (phone number is optional).

“This information will be used to provide you with the case resolution details once these are provided by the government entity working on the case. This information is strictly confidential and will not be shared with any third party or used in any other context than to resolve the reported case,” it states.
