NRI alert: More job opportunities to surface in India

A number of new job opportunities are expected to surface in India in the next three months, offering fresh prospects to Indian expats who may have plans to make a move back home at some point.

After a lull before the general elections in the country, India’s hiring landscape is expected to improve considerably, a new survey reveals.

The latest employment outlook survey by job portal MyHiringClub.com shows that Indian companies are expecting the hiring pace for the upcoming quarter to rebound, giving hope to many jobseekers.

Employers who participated in the poll foresee an increase in the headcount in the second quarter (July-September) of the current financial year. The projected hiring intentions are stronger when compared with the previous quarter.

This will be particularly pronounced in the technology sector. The survey shows that Indian employers, especially in IT & ITES (IT-Enabled Services) segment are expected to go on a robust recruitment drive in the forthcoming quarter.

The findings are based on online interviews that covered 5,413 employers in India.

Even though the majority (78 per cent) predict an increase in headcount, a marginal number (4 per cent) forecast a decrease whereas 14 per cent anticipate no change.

The net employment outlook stands at a favourable positive 42 per cent, reveals the portal.

The electoral victory of Narendra Modi in the May elections has given a tremendous boost to the investor sentiment in the country, with most recruitment and research firms in the market predicting an uptick in hiring levels.

Companies like Korn/Ferry International, ABC Consultants, Ikya Human Capital Solutions, EMA Partners, Transearch India and RGF Executive Search, all have previously stated that the general mood in the job market is very bullish now after a dull 8 to 10 quarters before the election results were announced.

Some sectors, in fact, had even started hiring in the January-March quarter on the hopes of a stable national government being formed in the country.

And with a big boost in investor sentiment now, companies are expected to hire in big numbers and this may open opportunities not just for Indians in the country but also the huge numbers of non- resident Indians who are out of the country but looking to relocate back.
