Two Chinese and a Filipino have been arrested by members of the Philippine National Police (PNP) on Monday for drug-trafficking in Metro Manila’s Pasay City, radio reports said.

Operatives of PNP Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Force (AIDSOTF) arrested the trio for conspiring to sell drugs to an undercover officer at 1.30pm on April 29, at the vicinity of Jollibee Blue Wave, in the Metropolitan Park at Barangay 76, Macapagal Boulevard, Pasay City.

Superintendent Ismael Fajardo Jr, head of AIDSOTF Special Operations Unit 3, said some 5 million pesos (Dh446,456.85) worth of methamphetamine hydrochloride, or shabu, was seized from the suspects.

He identified the suspects as Li Meimei, 41, of 611 Elcano Stree, in Binondo, Manila; Romeo David Ong, 49, of U-1256 Park Avenue Mansion, Pasay City; and Esmeraldo de los Santos Trinidad, 54, of 4099 Rosal Street, in Santo Niño, Parañaque City.

He said that charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act, are being prepared against the three, who are now being questioned at the AIDSOTF offices at Camp Crame, in Quezon City.

The police also recovered from the trio the boodle money amounting to 2.2 million pesos (Dh196,441.23), 3,560 pesos (Dh317.88) in cash, four mobile phones, assorted identification cards and other documents.

Senior Superintendent Napoleon Taas Jr, PNP-AIDSOTF commander, said the police also impounded the suspects’ red Honda Civic, with plate number ZDW-584, and a silver Toyota Altis (UEO-196).
