In a savage act of cannibalism, three brothers in the Philippines are accused of butchering their mother and eating parts of her body last week.
The 56-year-old woman’s mutilated body was discovered inside her home by police.
According to a report in indiatoday, the incident came to light when neighbours heard weird noises from the house.
The three – aged between 18 and 35 -have denied the charges.
While police suspect drug abuse as a reason for the murder, there are also reports that say it could be a ritual killing.
The suspects believed they were attempting to drive away an illness brought on by a bad spirit, reported Daily Mail.
Some parts of her body were missing, it added.
Police are also looking into reports that the family has a history of mental disorders.
Meanwhile, the suspects will undergo a drug test, as well.
