An 18-year-old househelp has been charged with homicide by the police for allegedly killing and robbing his Singaporean employer in Barangay Pinagkaisahan, a village in the Metro Manila suburb of Quezon City, last month.

A charge of robbery with homicide was filed by the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) against Oreste Orejudos Jr, the prime suspect in the death of Peter Lee, 50, a Singaporean who was married to his compatriot.

Radio reports said Lee died of a hack wound at his nape (back of the head), and that his wallet and iPhone were missing when Julio Cariño Jr, the family driver who had just returned with Lee’s wife from shopping in Dau, Pampanga province, found his body.

Cariño, who had alleged that the suspect and his belongings were nowhere to be found when he and Mrs Lee arrived, told the police that the night before Lee’s death the suspect asked for a cash advance from his employer who had refused.

Inspector Elmer Monsalve, chief of QCPD Homicide Section, and his men had tried to look for Orejudos at his family address at Doña Ana, Camarin, in Caloocan City, also a suburb of Metro Manila, but did not find him.

Orejudos’s father allegedly told the police that he had not seen his son since he started working for Lee. He added that his son could not be reached on his mobile phone.
