A publicschool teacher in the central Philippine province of Aklan is in hot water after she forced her Grade I pupil to eat a piece of paper as punishment for being noisy in class.

The parents of the five-year-old pupil filed a child abuse complaint at the police station of Madalag town against Ladelyn Nabartey, 44, a teacher at Madalag Elementary School, in Barangay San Jose.

Citing police reports, the tabloid ‘People’s Journal’ said the parents found their child crying when he came home on Friday and told them that he was forced by his teacher to eat a piece of paper.

The police said Nabartey got angry when the child became noisy in her class, so she took a piece of paper, crumpled it and ordered the child to eat it.

The parents said their child and some of his classmates, who witnessed the incident, have been traumatised and now refuse to go to school.

4 women found dead in Cavite province

Four women, two of them bearing signs of having been raped, were found dead recently in separate places in Cavite, a province on the southern shores of Manila Bay, radio reports and tabloids said.

The naked body of 24-year-old Rizza Gregorio, a factory worker and resident of Barangay Mulawin, in Tanza town, was found on June 8 in a remote area in her barangay (village). Her neck was tied with plastic straw and her underwear was found beside her.

The daily tabloid ‘People’s Journal’, citing police reports, said the molestation and murder of Rizza must have occurred during a heavy downpour while the victim was walking home alone from work.

On Thursday, another woman was killed and dumped into a public drainage in Barangay Sahod Ulan, also in Tanza. The victim, who has yet to be identified, was between 25 and 30 years old.

Police Officer 1 Joel Mendoza added that the victim was found strangled at 10am on June 13, with stab wounds. He believed the woman was killed somewhere else and dumped in Barangay Sahod Ulan.

Also on June 13, two unidentified women were found dead in Barangay San Rafael 4, Noveleta town, and in Barangay Pasong Buaya, Imus City respectively.

Police said the woman found in Noveleta must have been a victim of rape, as she had no underwear, although she was wearing a red T-shirt marked ‘Generation-X’ and a black bra.

The fourth victim was about 35 years old and wearing only an undershirt, with her hands and feet tied and her mouth covered with masking tape. She was floating in a river when found by residents in the area.
