A Saudi father and his wife severely beat up their little son then tied him to a steep pipe at home in Saudi Arabia before he was rescued by the Gulf Kingdom’s religious police acting after seeing his picture on social networks.

Members of the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice surrounded the house in the northern town of Hafr Al Batin and told the mother to come out with her tortured son but she at first refused.

After nearly four hours of negotiations, the mother emerged out of the house with her son, who looked in a bad shape and urgently needed to be taken to hospital.

The mother said her son, aged below 10 years, had been punished because he had assaulted his little brother and that it was the first time he was beaten up.

“The boy had bruises all over his body and he looked very tired and ill after he was tied to a steel pipe in the back garden of his house for a long period of time,” Sabq daily said.

“Neighbours told police that the mother was lying and that it was not the first time that the boy had been tortured and tied to the pipe this way.”
