Prison inmate hangs himself by underwear

A prison inmate in Saudi Arabia used his underwear clothes to commit a suicide by hanging himself from the prison window bars, a newspaper in the Gulf Kingdom reported on Thursday.

Guards rushed to save the 24-year-old man but found that he was already dead in the prison in the eastern town of Khobar.

“The man has been in jail on charges of abusing his parents…he had suffered from mental problems,” the paper said, quoting Colonel Ayoum bin Naheet, a local prison authority spokesman.
