60-year-old superstar Rajinikanth has been hospitalised for the second time in a week. He was admitted to the Isabel hospital in Chennai on Wednesday night and is being treated for allergic bronchitis and high fever, reports Press Trust of India.
Hospital sources described the Indian actor's condition as "stable". He will be kept in the Intensive Care Unit for the next two days, his family revealed to PTI.
The family has appealed to fans not to come to the hospital as doctors have advised him to rest.
The actor was admitted to the same hospital briefly for exhaustion and dehydration on April 29. He was discharged the same day.
Rajinikanth plays a triple role in his latest film 'Rana'. The film shooting commenced the same day Rajinikanth was first hospitalised, says PTI. He is paired opposite Deepika Padukone in the film.
Millions of fans are praying for Rajini's speedy recovery across social networking sites.
