1 dead; 10 hospitalised after bus crashed into car

A 36-year-old woman is dead, her husband hospitalised in critical condition and nine other people were hospitalized after a crash early Sunday on a San Francisco Bay area highway involving a car driven by a man police say had been drinking and a party bus.

In the 2 am crash, California Highway Patrol Officer Art Montiel says a Honda coupe driven by a 43-year-old Raul Padilla appears to have slammed into the center divider of Highway 101, then came to a stop facing oncoming traffic.

After the Honda stopped, the front end of a party bus, with 18 people on board, hit the car. Two other cars were also involved in the collision.

The driver of the car — identified as Raul Padilla — was hospitalized in critical condition.
