100 men detained for cock-fight gambling

Saudi Arabia’s Islamic police chased and rounded up nearly 100 Filipinos for staging illegal cock-fighting for gambling at a farm in the Gulf Kingdom, a newspaper reported on Saturday.

Members of the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice raided the farm in the central province of Qassim and arrested scores of Filipino men as they were betting during a cock fight which is illegal in Saudi Arabia.

“Some of them ran away but were chased and captured,” Okaz Arabic language daily said. “Nearly 100 were taken back to the farm where they work and were made to write statements not to repeat such acts. Some of them later converted to Islam because they were treated nicely by the Commission.”
