12-year-old girl in suicide attempt

A 12-year-old Saudi girl swallowed a large quantity of drugs in an attempt to commit a suicide due to family rifts but she was saved, local newspapers reported on Tuesday.

The girl was rushed to hospital in the northern town of Hafr Al Batin in a critical condition but doctors managed to save her life, they said.

Police said the unidentified teen-ager tried to commit a suicide because of a dispute with her parents.
