18-month-old girl saved after hand in mincer

Saudi Civil Defence saved an 18-month-old girl whose hand was caught inside a meat mincer while she was playing with the machine at her home in the Gulf Kingdom.

The Civil Defence joined hands with doctors at King Fahd Hospital in the southern town of Abu Arish to safely pull the child’s hand out of the mincer.

Sabq newspaper said the girl had first aid at the hospital before she was sent home.

School boy falls to death in manhole

A Saudi school boy plunged to his death in an uncovered manhole just outside his school after leaving class, newspapers reported on Monday.

Civil Defence units plucked the body of the secondary class student nearly an hour after he fell down in the pit on the road near the school in the Western Red Sea port of Jeddah, they said, adding that police are investigating the case.
