3-year-old girl saved after falling into manhole

A three-year-old Saudi girl who was walking back home plunged several metres into a manhole but was saved in the last minute.

The girl had apparently not noticed the uncovered sewage pit in the middle of the road in her neighbourhood in the capital Riyadh and uttered a short scream just before her fall, attracting the attention of passers-by.

“The civil defence men were there in a few minutes after they received a call about the incident… they quickly plucked her out as she was still alive,” said police spokesman Major Mohammed Al Tamimi.

“She was rushed to hospital and is now in the intensive care unit…reporting the incident quickly saved the girl from a certain death.”
