300kg woman loses 140kg in 7 months

A Saudi woman weighing 300 kg lost nearly 140 kg in seven months after a surgery at a government hospital in the Gulf kingdom.

Thuraya Matyouri was admitted to hospital in the Western town of Makkah weighing 300kg and left it last week at 160 kg.

Doctors said the patient was discharged from hospital last week and that she would be able to walk for the first time in more than five years.

“I can now walk and sleep normally. Thank God I can now have a normal life. Thanks to all those who helped me,” she told Sabq newspaper.
