5,100 car offences in Kuwait in one week

Car drivers in a Kuwait province committed more than 5,100 road violations in just one week, including 78 offences for jumping the red lights.

A sudden traffic police campaign caught motorists in the coastal province of Houli off guard and resulted in issuing 5,126 tickets for various offences.

Besides jumping the red lights, they included eight speed offences, 2,591 for parking in the wrong place, 88 for driving without licence, 77 for not renewing the car insurance, 201 for using mobile phones while driving, 126 for parking in places allocated for the handicapped, 117 for not using the seat belt, 13 for reckless driving, and other violations, according to Alwatan newspaper.
