Saudi civil defence men used heavy metal ropes to rescue five camels which fell into a sewage pit in the Gulf Kingdom, but one of them was plucked out dead.

Armed with massive cranes, the unit spent at least two hours to pull the camels out of the pit where they plunged one after another as they searched for food near their farm in the southern Saudi town of Khamis Mushait.

“Four camels were saved while one was pulled out dead,” 'Sabq' Arabic language daily said, quoting civil defence spokesman Colonel Mohammed Al Asimi.
