90-year-old 'healthier' after quitting smoking

A 90-year-old Saudi man decided to give up smoking after he was told by a young relative he has felt much healthier since he quit the habit with medical help, a newspaper in the Gulf Kingdom reported on Monday.

The old man decided to listen to his relative and visit a nearby clinic in the western town of Laith to help him quit smoking, Sabq said.

“After some treatment sessions at the clinic, he made up his mind and quit smoking,” the paper said, quoting a clinic official.

It said the unnamed old man was encouraged by the improvement in the condition of his relative, who had suffered from severe cough, insomnia, breathing difficulty and other diseases associated with smoking.

“His relatives told the old man that he was now feeling much healthier, happier and more comfortable after quitting smoking…so he decided to follow suit.”
