An Arab cashier who had planned to steal his own company apparently forgot about the camera when he informed the police about the theft by unknown burglars in Saudi Arabia, Alyoum newspaper reported on Sunday.

The unidentified employee went to the police centre in the western Red Sea port of Jeddah and reported that unknown thieves had stolen SR75,000 (Dh74,000) from the safe of his clothes company, the Arabic language daily said.

“But the police suspected the information he had given and decided to open an investigation about those who had entered the company on that day,” it said.

“The company’s camera showed that accountant entered the room where the safe is located and was holding a metal bar in his hand…the investigators were more suspicious and under pressure, he later confessed to the crime.”
