Baby found abandoned in fallow Saudi field

A Saudi man and his wife stumbled across a newborn boy wrapped in a blanket and dumped in an abandoned field infested with insects and reptiles.

The couple, who were strolling near the field, rushed to the baby after hearing him crying and found him lying on the grass in the field in the southern province of Jazan.

'Sabq' newspaper said the boy had apparently been just dumped in that area as the blanket was not wet by rain that fell there a few hours before he was found.

“The man and his wife saved the boy’s life as he could have been bitten by insects or reptiles or attacked by stray dogs,” the paper said, adding that the baby was handed over to the police, who took him to hospital.
