Battle for Taiz: Fierce fighting; 90% of city liberated

Fierce fighting between Yemeni troops and rebel Houthi militias took place east of Taiz.

Intensive airstrikes of the Arab Coalition warplanes destroyed Houthi positions in Taiz and Al Mahweet.

Sources confirmed to Emarat Al Youm that coalition forces foiled an attempt to smuggle of weapons by the Houthis across the sea.

One source was quoted as saying that 90 per cent of Taiz was liberated.

Sources told Sky News Arabia that the fighting in Taiz centered in and around Thabat and Al Gahamlyah areas.

The sources also confirmed that the progress of the legitimate forces towards the liberation of the whole of Taiz continued in the face of indiscriminate shelling by the Houthis and rockets being fired randomly.
